Today was a milestone in my training.
100 is only a number, but there is something empowering about holding 100 pounds in each hand and pressing it. Dumbbell presses are far more difficult that barbell presses (I don't bench press).
In truth, I could have lifted this weight several months ago. However, I don't move up to a weight until I can (or think I can) do at least 7 repetitions in a set. My general guidelines are:
- If I can press 10 reps I need to move up in weight.
- If I press 6 reps or less, I am trying to lift too much weight.
For this set, I was only able to press 5 times unassisted. I completed two more reps with the help of a trainer. So I will drop back down to 95 pound dumbbells for 2 more weeks.
I was nice to get the picture though ;)
I know I haven't posted any body shots lately. I've decided to do fake-n-bake before my next set of pictures. I have an appointment this coming Friday, so if I don't come out orange I should be able to post some new pictures soon.
